Most tutors report hours promptly, because you want to get paid promptly. But occasionally tutors fall really far behind in reporting hours. You may think this only affects you but in fact it also impacts our ability to bill clients and collect the payments our business needs to stay afloat. Parents typically react negatively to receiving a bill for tutoring months after the fact, because they no longer remember the number of hours tutored and feel they may be getting double-billed.
Per your contract, you agree to report hours weekly. We are now enforcing a policy of withholding payment for hours reported more than 30 days late until we have ourselves received payment from the client. To be clear, we will still pay you for every hour tutored, but reserve the right to delay payment until we ourselves have been paid, because of the increased risk that we will not be able to collect for these hours. This only applies to hours reported more than 30 days after you should have reported them. We will pay you for hours reported in a timely manner whether or not we collect from the parent.
