When you tutor a student we have assigned to you, you are representing In-Home Tutors. We’ve chosen you because we think you are good, so it’s no surprise when our clients recommend you to their friends. As an independent contractor to us, you may well be tutoring students independently and may be tempted to take on referrals as your own private students. In fact, contractually you must put this new business through In-Home Tutors.
This is fair, if you think about it. In-Home Tutors has invested a lot of money in obtaining a student for you, and also invested in recruiting you, checking your references and putting our reputation on the line every time we send you out. All small businesses count on satisfied clients to bring new business through word of mouth. Clearly, if our tutors siphon off any referrals, that causes us real damage.
So, if you are tutoring on behalf of In-Home Tutors, and your student tells you of another student who needs a tutor, please tell them to call us. You will get first option to tutor that student, of course, and, in addition we will be happy to pay you a referral fee after the new student pays for their first 3 hours (please remind us!!). Obviously this only applies to referrals from our clients. Other companies, such as Wyzant, have similar policies and referrals from students you get through them should go back to them.
Thanks for your integrity in understanding and adhering to this policy.
